• Underexplored greenstone belt hosting visible gold and grab samples to 104 OPT Au

The Hare Property is located 460 km NE of Yellowknife and is readily accessible by fixed wing aircraft. The property is at the northern end of the Healey Lake Greenstone Belt, an amphibolite grade succession of mafic and felsic metavolcanic rocks and metasediments, mapped only during the late 1970’s by the Geological Survey of Canada. In the early 1980’s, Kidd Creek Mines Ltd. explored the northern end of the greenstone belt, focusing on the base metal potential but discovering mostly gold showings. At the Hare Showing, gold mineralization occurs in amphibolite-grade mafic and intermediate metavolcanics near the contact with overlying metamorphosed turbidites. Visible gold grains up to 2 mm long occur in sheared meta-arenites with minor pyrrhotite and pyrite. Grab samples from this showing returned values up to 104 ounces per ton Au from a small area of outcrop about 20 m in diameter. There are several other lower grade showings in this area (Thumper, Cottontail, Bunny, Lapin, Rock) which returned gold assays of around 1 g/t Au.
